WILDCOAST COSTASALVAJE
CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF CONSERVATION
For over 20 years the WILDCOAST international team has been working tirelessly to protect some of the world’s most at-risk coastal and marine ecosystems. By establishing and managing protected areas, advocating for strong conservation policies and working with communities, together they preserve healthy thriving oceans and addresses climate change through natural solutions.
WILDCOAST’s strategic, passionate and relentless ecosystem-based approach to conservation is key to their long-lasting impact and success.
“We envision a society in which ecologically sensitive and globally significant coastal and marine ecosystems and wildlife are conserved, restored and sustained for future generations.”
From pristine coastlines and mangrove lagoons to turquoise islands and stunning coral reefs, WILDCOAST works to conserve some of the most globally important ecosystems and iconic ocean wildlife in the USA, Mexico, and Cuba.
As an international team with hundreds of skill sets, they are working to protect more than 31.6 million acres of pristine coastlines, mangrove forests, grey whale lagoons, turquoise islands, stunning coral reefs, coastal wetlands and open ocean ecosystems.

In the crystal waters surrounding Mexican Pacific and Cuba WILDCOAST is working to conserve coral reefs through mooring infrastructure and monitoring, establishing protected areas and promoting reef stewardship with community outreach.
“We work with Mexico’s National Commission for Protected Natural Areas, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Cuba's Center for Natural Protected Areas, tourism outfitters and local communities to coordinate coral reef monitoring and conservation.
Our programs support and protect the beauty, vibrancy, and biodiversity of coral reefs in Mexico and Cuba.”
Due to coastal development, deforestation and agricultural/aquacultural expansion mangroves around the world are disappearing at an alarming rate. WILDCOAST works in eight areas around the USA and Mexico protecting the vast forests that provide refuge to grey whales and migratory birds, offer important nursery habitats for commercially valuable fish and act as a natural buffer against storm surges and sea-level rise.
“We protect mangrove forests in the Gulf of California, Bahia Magdalena and Oaxaca through federal zone concessions, blue carbon credits, monitoring and community outreach.”
On the critical nesting beaches and foraging grounds for sea turtles in the US, Mexico and Cuba WILDCOAST is providing training and workshops for park rangers, tourism outfitters and local communities. Together they protect these habitats through federal zone concessions and work to establish new protected areas that are critical to the sea turtles’ survival.
“We protect sea turtle nesting beaches in the Mexican Pacific through federal zone concessions, monitoring, scarab beetle control and community outreach and engagement.
To protect critical sea turtle habitats, we work in partnership with the National Mexican Turtle Center, Mexico’s National Commission for Protected Natural Areas (CONANP) and local communities.”
