Ali Ageel | Underwater Photographer & Videographer | Scuba Diver | Maldives
Ali was born and raised in the Maldives, growing up surrounded by the Indian Ocean. Ali always felt inspired by underwater photographers, but he had never heard of one originating from his homeland.
In 2016, Ali decided to pick up a camera and start shooting nature underwater, from the smallest critters to large pelagics, and now he is a talented underwater photographer and videographer sharing the Maldives’ finest marine life.
When did you first start documenting your story?
I started in 2016.
What are the fondest memories from your upbringing that you feel impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?
For me, it was the first time when I went scuba diving. This was when I truly connected with the ocean.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
For the world to stop using single-use plastics, and to make the Maldives a single-use plastic-free zone.
What legacy do you hope to leave?
I hope that I can show the magic of the underwater world through the lens of a local diver without using any filters.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow their dreams as an ocean Storyteller?
Follow your dreams and don’t limit yourself. Giving a voice to the ocean is important, so do it!
