Daniel Sasse | Scuba diving Instructor and Photographer | Germany | Thailand
After becoming a State-certified Engineer specializing in construction technology, Daniel decided that, in order to live a more fulfilled life, it was time for a career change.
The now-owner of ‘Poseidon Dive Center’ began his career as a Scuba Diving Instructor and underwater Photographer over 25 years ago and hasn’t looked back. Daniel is on a mission to protect, defend and conserve the marine world.
What is a typical day like for you?
Breakfast ➔ Coffee ➔ Scuba Diving ➔ underwater shooting ➔ Protecting the Ocean ➔ Lunch ➔ Scuba Diving ➔ underwater shooting ➔ Protecting the Ocean ➔ preparing work for the next day.
When did you first pick up a camera and start shooting underwater?
25 years ago.
What has impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?
Seeing mankind destroy the Oceans first hand over my 25 years of professional scuba diving.
What path did you choose after leaving school?
I trained as a State-certified Engineer specializing in construction technology, but quickly changed to Scuba Diving Instructor and underwater Photographer.
What do you value most in life?
The health of our Oceans.
What brings you the most joy?
Underwater Photography and Scuba Diving!
Who/what currently inspires you?
Sylvia Earle and David Attenborough.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
In general, I would like to change the destruction of the Oceans and its inhabitants. I run a Marine Life Conservation Organization and various projects such as; Abandoned Fishing net removal, Ocean surface rubbish removal, Underwater Cleanups, Beach Cleanups, and Coral Propagation, all of which is heartbreaking to see and unacceptable.

‘Sharkwater’, ‘Chasing Corals’, ‘Racing extinction’, and ‘The End of the Line’.
What legacy do you hope to leave?
Making the world a better place for our animals.
