Now an experienced dive professional passionate about the underwater world, he is able to approach documentary and conservation films from a different angle than most.
An accomplished photographer, featured in Oceanographic magazine, Liam is on a mission to share the beauty and wonder of our planet and oceans with as many as he can.
When did you first start documenting your ocean story?
I have always has a fascination with capturing the world. It has only grown while discovering more of our oceans through completing my divemaster and getting my first underwater camera.
What are the fondest memories from your upbringing that you feel impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?
I have been fortunate to grow up next to the ocean and spent most of my childhood swimming in the sea but not seeing much due to the vis. I then got the chance to snorkel on a coral reef in the Caribbean which opened my eyes to the wonder of our oceans and I have not stopped searching for more amazing things under the waves since.
What path did you choose after leaving school?
I studied Physics at University and then moved into working as a divemaster due to my love of the ocean
Who/what currently inspires you?
Nature is my biggest inspiration as I'm sure it is for most people. However I am also always inspired by the work of the Sea Legacy team and all the ocean storytellers who bring nature closer to people who might not have the opportunity.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
I would most like to change the amount we overexploit our world as it has an amazing ability to bounce back if we give it the time and space to do so.
What legacy do you hope to leave?
I hope to leave a world were more people care about our oceans and want to protect them
What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow their dreams as an ocean Storyteller?
I would advise anyone wanting to tell ocean stories to gain as much time in the water as they can because it's this which allows you to have incredible interactions with wildlife.
