Mika is a Dutch content creator who loves travel, filming, personal development, and extreme sports. While travelling, Mika loves to capture people and nature wherever his journey takes him.
Mika has also been a media volunteer for Sea Shephard, capturing their fight to save marine wildlife and filming campaign videos.
When did you first start your storytelling journey?
I got into filming when I was 12 years old. I would film myself snowboarding while on vacation or film my friends skating. But it wasn’t until 2019 that I took content creation seriously.
What memories from your upbringing have impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?
Regret, learning, and compassion.
What path did you choose after leaving school?
I went off on my own creativity and business to make videos.
What/who currently inspires you?
Creative director and filmmaker Sam Køder, and the good people that surround me.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
For people to stop seeing animals as food, but as friends.
Are there any books/documentaries that have guided your thinking, and you'd like to recommend to other ocean lovers?
Seaspiracy.
What legacy do you hope to leave?
To create a youtube channel that shows people there is hope.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow their dreams as an Ocean Storyteller?
To keep on learning and don't look at the money.
