Evan Friedman | Decarbonization Research Analyst | New York
By day, Evan publishes research on the decarbonization of the power sector. Most of his shooting time comes from expeditions, “the farther off the beaten path the better”.
Although Evan is only just beginning his photography journey, he has always had a passionate interest in nature, feeling a sense of raw power, connection, and awe-inspiring beauty when experiencing nature in its purest, most untarnished form.

I work in finance writing research on the decarbonisation of the power sector. My ultimate goal is to work with climate tech companies and help them to develop and grow.

Paul Nicklen inspires me with his activism and the ability to capture such impactful moments in nature. Bill Gates inspires with his dedication to finding a solution to climate change and driving forward decarbonisation. Henley Spiers with his bright and innovative photography. There are so many.
When did you first pick up a camera and shooting underwater?
I have been interested in wildlife photography since I was a young child. I exchanged my gopro for more serious underwater kit at the beginning of COVID, so I am really just getting started with underwater photography, but diving has always been my deepest passion/addiction.

Throughout my life my most formative memories have been during those times when I have had the opportunity to experience nature in its purest, most untarnished form. Whether this was in the middle of the ocean or on a snowy mountain peak, I always felt a sense of raw power, connection, and awe-inspiring beauty when in these environments.
