Aside from her job as a divemaster & persuing underwater photography, Yara spends her time fighting for her convictions, sharing her passion and convincing others to make a change.
Like many members of our community, she tries to raise awareness and give a voice to the ocean, both through her photography and through actively speaking out.
What is a typical day like for you?
Waking up, doing Yoga and either going Freediving or Scuba Diving in the National Park of Cabo Pulmo
What are the fondest memories from your upbringing that you feel impacted your life choices and lifestyle today?
When I overcame my biggest fear (the ocean) and did my scuba license in Honduras. It was then that I changed my tune and instead of being afraid, I fell in love with the sea

What path did you choose after leaving school?
I studied Tourism Management and did my Divemaster.
What do you value most in life?
Intact Nature.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
Raise awareness through footage (photos/ videos from endangered animals or pollution). I first picked a camera up myself 5 years ago.
What legacy do you hope to leave?
I would love to leave a legacy of encouraging people to share and receive knowledge and stories with an open mind.
